Our Technology
At ADS Publishing, we don't just publish stories, we build the tools that help authors create them. Our in-house technology platform has been developed over the past 18 months, tested against our own growing portfolio of IP, and designed around a single principle: the author is always in control.
We are a publishing house and a creative technology company. Our three software products serve writers at every stage of their journey, from first idea to finished manuscript, and at every level of experience.
The Author-First Philosophy
There is a growing and justified concern about AI replacing human creativity. We share it.
Every tool we build operates on the same foundation: AI should reflect, assist, and inform, never override, generate on behalf of, or substitute for the author's creative voice. Our software is designed to keep the writer's hand on the wheel at every stage of the process.
We test every product against our own IP. The novels and series published under the ADS imprint are developed using the same tools we are building for authors. If a tool produces generic, lifeless, or structurally unsound fiction, we see it immediately, in our own work, before anyone else does.
Nexus (In Development - Internal & Beta Use)
The professional author's workspace. Built to run a publishing operation.
Nexus Narrative began as a writing tool and became something larger: the operational backbone of ADS Publishing's entire creative output. We currently use it to manage 8 active IP universes, 123 titles in development, and over 12 million words of prose across series ranging from 3 books to 20, spanning multiple genres, timelines, and interconnected characters.
No tool existed that could handle this at scale. So we built one.
For the individual author, Nexus is a sophisticated creative workspace that organises everything you know about your story, characters, locations, lore, structure, tone, and makes it available exactly when you need it, without cluttering your drafting environment when you don't.
For authors managing series or multi-book worlds, it's something more: a production platform that tracks every title from first brainstorm to publication-ready manuscript, with the tools to ensure consistency across hundreds of thousands or millions of words.
What it does:
Manages your creative world across a three-tier hierarchy: Universe, Series, and Book, with lore inheritance so world-building defined at the Universe level flows down into every book without duplication
Threads: A cross-cutting plot and continuity system that lets you plan a story arc at the same structural level as a scene, chapter, or book and track it across an entire series, or across multiple series within the same universe. If a character's secret established in Book 1 needs to pay off in Book 7 of a different spin-off, Threads holds that connection
Showrunner: A full production management layer per-book dashboards tracking beats, prose progress, and word count; a Launchpad that reverse-schedules a publication timeline from your release date; an Asset Pipeline tracking storyboards, audio masters, and marketing materials; and an calender that surfaces what needs attention across your entire portfolio
A full suite of planning, drafting, editing, and brainstorming tools, each operating within the context of your specific story and Codex
The Foundry: A plugin and template system that lets authors build their own custom AI-assisted writing tools: Dialogue Coach, Pacing Accelerator, Sensory Enhancer, Scene Ender, and more, each with author-defined system prompts and a live test bench. Every tool in The Foundry is controlled entirely by the author
A built-in structural review at scene, chapter, act, and story level presented as non-judgemental summaries of how the software understood your narrative. Nexus shows you what it saw. You decide what it means
Art Studio and Audio Studio integration for authors developing visual and audio assets alongside their manuscripts
Nexus does not tell you your story is wrong. It does not push you toward industry-standard structure or "correct" genre conventions. It assumes you know what you are doing and gives you the infrastructure to do it at scale.
Currently in internal use across ADS Publishing's active IP portfolio. Beta access planned for late 2027.
Manulysis (In Development - Internal & Beta Use)
Editorial-depth manuscript analysis.
Manulysis was originally developed as an internal submissions screening tool, a way for ADS editors to assess manuscripts quickly, rigorously, and consistently. It has since been expanded into a full developmental analysis suite for authors preparing work for submission or publication.
It follows exactly the same analytical process a professional developmental editor would take: scene by scene, chapter by chapter, act by act, and finally the manuscript as a whole. A typical novel produces a 40+ page dossier covering narrative structure, pacing, character arc consistency, thematic development, promise and payoff tracking, and a prioritised revision roadmap.
What makes it different:
It reads your manuscript on its own terms, it does not impose a template or assume your story should follow a specific structural model
Every level of analysis is validated against the levels below it, so chapter-level findings are always grounded in the scene-level data, not generated in isolation
It assumes you are a capable writer who has made deliberate choices. Its job is to surface what it found; your job is to decide what to do with that
Manulysis is the tool we use before any ADS title goes to a human editor. It catches structural inconsistencies, dropped threads, and pacing problems at a fraction of the cost and time of a traditional editorial assessment.
Currently in internal use. Beta access for external authors planned for 2027.
Story Engine (Launching March 2027)
Where writers learn the craft.
Story Engine is a structured creative writing platform for hobbyists, learners, and anyone who wants to explore whether a story idea has legs — before committing months of work to a novel.
It is built on the mathematical foundations of proven genre storytelling: the conventions, structures, and tropes that make genre fiction work for readers. It is not designed to produce a finished novel for you. It is designed to walk you through the process of building one: from core concept, through blueprint and outline, to scene-by-scene drafts, so you understand why the story works at each stage.
How it works:
Choose your genre (Romance, Fantasy, Horror, Mystery, Sci-Fi, Crime, Historical Fiction, and more) and your format (short story, novella, or shorter novel up to ~70,000 words)
Configure your story's core elements — characters, relationships, setting, tone — with hundreds of variables and full editing control at every step
Generate a structural blueprint and scene-by-scene outline, then draft scene by scene with AI assistance: every output fully editable, nothing locked
Receive a built-in 6-page craft critique that explains how your story is working structurally, feeding directly into an Editor function that suggests targeted improvements and explains the reasoning behind each one
Story Engine is intentionally built on genre convention, not because convention is a ceiling, but because understanding the rules is how you learn to break them. Authors who develop a concept in Story Engine often find it becomes the foundation for deeper work in Nexus.
Public launch planned for March 2027. Cloud-based. No software installation required.
A Note on Development Status
All three products are under active development. Nexus and Manulysis are currently in use within ADS Publishing's own editorial and IP development workflow, every title in our portfolio is developed and reviewed using these tools. Story Engine is in final development ahead of its public launch.
We are building in public from the beginning: the novels and series we publish are the proof of concept. If the tools don't produce better books, we'll know, because they're our books.
